One of the most important lessons Joanna taught me was how to show rather than tell in my writing. Her expert feedback pushed me to focus my words and eliminate unnecessary components that distracted from my points. This sense of focus has led me to great success in my college writing because of her emphasis on clarity and conciseness in her feedback to my writing. -Christina
The most valuable writing skill Joanna taught me was how to use and analyze quotes effectively. She was so patient and offered me so much encouragement when guiding me out of my “quote bombing” habits. Even after she was no longer officially my teacher, Joanna kindly read my personal statement and gave me thorough feedback to help me express myself more distinctly.- Allison
I will always remember Joanna as one of the most caring and empathetic teachers I have ever had. She met me and my classmates with patience and compassion each and every day. Her feedback helped me develop and gain confidence in myself as a writer. -Sarah
